Net-Zero Energy

The Net-Zero Energy business aims to become a provider of total offshore wind solutions that will solve energy problems by supplying clean energy based on its internalization of the expertise and technology of the entire offshore wind power value chain.
We aim to build future growth engines by embodying solutions in all areas of offshore wind energy at home and overseas. In addition, We have been actively promoting the commercialization of offshore wind power development projects along Ulsan's southeast coast area and Jeollanam-do since 2018 to preempt the floating offshore wind power complex development market and expand its business sector.
In addition, SK ecoplant has acquired SK oceanplant, Asia's No. 1 manufacturer of offshore wind substructures, to promote the specialization of the entire value chain encompassing business development, manufacturing, construction and operation, and the internalization of technology/human resources to secure expertise in offshore wind EPCI. In addition, we plan to secure additional business synergies by promoting the creation of floating-type dedicated port facilities and the development and commercialization of Korean K-fluid models.

SK oceanplant is one of the key companies in SK ecoplant's offshore wind-based green hydrogen value chain. As a company specializing in offshore wind power substructures, offshore plants, shipbuilding, and thick-walled steel pipes, SK oceanplant successfully localized thick-walled steel pipes for the first time in Korea in 2000.

Net-Zero Complex

The Net-Zero Complex business aims to develop a futuristic net-zero complex that can solve environmental problems based on innovative environmental and energy solutions designed to decarbonize industrial complexes. Basically, the eco-friendly carbon neutral industrial complex is being developed with the focus on expanding our business to the 'Zero City' based on our solution for realizing a circular economy (carbon neutrality + energy independence + smart city + resource circulation).
In particular, as a step toward the ‘Zero City’, we plan to build a carbon neutral complex by gathering our capabilities, given that the industrial sector is highly dependent on fossil fuel-based energy whose carbon intensity is far too high. For reference, domestic industrial complexes emitted 678 million tons of CO2 in 2021, which account for about 42% of the country's total GHG emissions. We aim to build distributed renewable energy infrastructure in the complex, including solar photovoltaic and fuel cell system, and supply clean energy to companies through an integrated energy management system. In cooperation with local governments and small and medium-sized enterprises, we have started projects to take the lead in realizing energy independence and decarbonization.
Each solution for energy independence, carbon capture, resource circulation, and carbon neutral standardarized factories will be developed to a commercially available level so that local governments and companies can meet their needs for carbon neutrality.

The Urban Regeneration Business solves social problems through renovation, modernization, and waste recycling based on the clients’ “pain points”. The domestic and foreign markets, which used to be centered on the transportation infrastructure, are expanding to living, industrial, and aging infrastructure. In particular, water treatment facilities and environmental facilities are expected to continue growing. Amid this market trend, we plan to expand the business area by developing a business model which a differentiates environmental infrastructures (water treatment and waste facilities) based on the expertise and performance capabilities accumulated while executing a number of domestic and foreign transportation infrastructure projects, such as domestic private capital development projects and large overseas PPP development projects.
In addition, we are leading the development of eco-friendly construction materials to turn waste into resources and reduce the carbon emissions of construction materials. As a resource circulation technology, the KEco-Bar (raw material: waste plastic bottles) in which we have invested has already been commercialized and is now being used as a replacement for rebar to reduce carbon emissions. In the future, we will actively promote value-up activities, such as developing and discovering carbon reduction technologies, in order to internalize eco-friendly technologies and become a major player in environmental development projects.

KEco-Bar

As an environmentally conscious company, we have developed an eco-friendly alternative material KEco-bar, as a result of our effort to reduce carbon emissions generated during the construction process. Although no scrap metal or limestone is required for its production, KEco-bar has twice the tensile strength of existing steel bars, yet generates les than half the amount of carbon emissions during its production process. Due to its rust-free property and light weight, which enhance both stability and usability during construction works, it is attracting much attention as a new material that can compensate for the drawbacks of conventional steel bars.
