SK ecoplant promotes quality management under the CEO’s strong leadership and has upgraded our management system by setting up a quality body under the ESG Center. To eliminate quality-related risks in advance, we carry out inspection and assessment activities at the construction phase, while a quality assessment is conducted from the design adequacy, construction, and O&M perspective to come up with corrective measures and provide various technical solutions. Also, general quality management is promoted for firewall, fire partition, and fire-fighting facilities, from production to construction, to ensure customer safety, while quality testing and performance verification is performed on indoor air quality measurement, radon management, noise measurement, and finishing materials such as insulation, windows, and doors. Furthermore, the annual business plan for quality management is reported to the management and the BOD, which will continuously enhance their responsibilities for product and service quality and safety.


SK ecoplant establishes and manages targets and roadmaps as part of our goal to “achieve zero large-scale material accidents that can affect the company.” According to the standards for material accident classification newly established in 2021, we plan to quantify our performance in reducing such accidents by ensuring the accuracy of data on accidents through upgrading our system for assessing the cost of poor quality (COPQ), starting from 2022.
We will designate a standard model to prevent recurrence in all products that have suffered frequent accidents, and link the model with our company-wide project management system to detect and mitigate key issues in projects. This will allow for continuous upgrading of the management system to prevent project-related accidents and minimize risk when an issue arises.

01. Quality Training

SK ecoplant provides quality-related training to employees scheduled to be assigned to a project. The training content consists of our quality management and related activities, an introduction to project quality management and the in-house quality IT system. In 2021, 1,399 employees completed the training, an essential training course required for project assignment. Employees who successfully finish the course become qualified for project assignment. In 2022, we began putting emphasis on the importance of compliance management in project quality, which is part of our effort to account for social trends, and we plan to update our quality training course for newcomers by reflecting regulatory revisions for the prevention of quality-related material accidents and the strengthening of risk management.

02. Prevention via Quality Inspection

SK ecoplant carries out custom, topic-based inspections to reinforce quality risk management. The nature of each business area is analyzed, and physical inspections are conducted to review accidents and issues which have occurred in the past, with the aim of preventing future accidents. In addition, preliminary reviews for quality risks are conducted in the marketing phase to prevent potential quality failures in the operational phase.

03. Quality Management and Support of Biz. Partners

A recent series of large-scale accidents that have occurred in other construction companies clearly demonstrate that business partners’ level of competency in quality management is vital to the quality of products manufactured by our company and directly linked to material accidents. Therefore, SK ecoplant is working on revising less effective aspects of business partners’ quality management systems with respect to enhancement of their quality competencies, aiming to enhance project completeness. Improvement actions, such as an expansion of business partners subject to evaluation, a transition to data-based qualitative evaluation, blocking low-performing partners from working with the company, phased exits, rewards for excellent business partners, and evaluation feedback are being implementing in order to encourage partners to improve their quality competencies and voluntarily take corrective measures.

04. Setup and Operation of Recurrence Prevention Process

By analyzing past accident data, SK ecoplant designates mandatory management criteria for each product, which is checked in our recurrence prevention process before work begins for the next process, to prevent repetitive and similar material accidents. As of the first half of 2022, the recurrence prevention process is being piloted in eight projects and will be upgraded through connection with our in-house IT systems.

05. Enhancement & Management of Consumer Safety

The finishing materials, adhesives, and internal materials we use are all environmentally certified. Flush-out of entire units of multi-unit dwellings is conducted in a bid to manage indoor air quality within the recommended range of indoor air pollutants standards. In addition, safety on radon emissions is being bolstered and continuously managed by securing test reports on radioactivity indexes and radon content in terms of native rock, artificial stone, tiles, plaster board, etc.

06. Quality Management Certification

For all worksites, SK ecoplant has acquired, and maintains, certifications for quality through reputable certification bodies such as ISO 9001, the international standard for quality management systems, the Korea Electric Power Industry Code (KEPIC), and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
